As you no doubt know, President Obama signed into law The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the "federal stimulus" or "stimulus"). Wisconsin is projected to received $3.5 billion from the stimulus, which includes potential funding for counties, municipalities and school districts. Menomonie attorney William H. Thedinga has been elected president of Mabel Tainter Literary, Library & Educational Society board of directors. His term of office will begin on January 1, 2009. Bill has served on the Mabel Tainter board since 2005. In commenting on Bill's election as Mabel Tainter president, current president Carolyn Barnhart said: "Bill has been a board member during the recent renovation and restoration of the Mabel Tainter building. He will provide strong leadership in sustaining the Mabel Tainter's mission for the future."

Four members of the Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci law firm were recently named Wisconsin Super Lawyers by Law & Politics and Milwaukee Magazine. Super Lawyers are recognized experts in their respective fields of practice. Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci’s Super Lawyers are Tom Misfeldt and Tom Graham in personal injury defense; Kathy Prenn and Steve Weld in employment and labor law. This is the fourth consecutive year in which Misfeldt, Prenn and Weld have received this statewide recognition.

In addition, five Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci attorneys were identified as “Rising Stars.” Rising Stars are defined as lawyers, 40 and under, who have made significant contributions to the practice of law. Weld, Riley, Prenn & Ricci’s Rising Stars are John Behling in administrative law; Pamela Macal and Andrea Voelker in employment and labor law; Bill Spangler in business and corporate law; and Tanya Bruder in personal injury defense. This is the third consecutive year Behling has been recognized as a “Rising Star” and the second consecutive year for Macal and Spangler.
