Although the majority of his practice involves representing defendants and insurance companies in litigation, he has also gained perspective by representing numerous plaintiffs in their claims.

Mike graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in social work. He received his law degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1980.

Some of Mike's community activities include serving on the Eau Claire Area School District Board and volunteering as a coach for the Wisconsin State Bar Mock Trial Tournament. Mike was one of the individuals who helped develop the Eau Claire County Bar Association Free Legal Clinic, and is an active participant in the Eau Claire County and Chippewa County Bar Association Free Legal Clinics.
