Commenting on Emily joining the firm was Weld, Riley President Steve Weld, “For over a decade, Emily has been trying cases before juries as an Eau Claire and LaCrosse County prosecutor. This extensive jury trial experience will make her a natural fit in our firm’s Civil Litigation Section. Being a young attorney with jury experience definitely gives our clients an edge in the courtroom. In addition to insurance and civil litigation defense, Emily will use her skills to develop a white- collar criminal defense practice.” Previous to joining Weld, Riley, Emily worked as an Assistant District Attorney in both Eau Claire and La Crosse Counties. As an Assistant District Attorney, Emily prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases and developed alternative means for achieving justice by developing and managing the Eau Claire County Diversion Program and working closely with the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault CommunityResponse Team, Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee, Bolton Refuge House Board and Restorative Justice Committee. In her free time, Emily teaches courses on Wisconsin domestic abuse law to police recruits and patrol officers. Emily also served the community by coaching and serving on boards for youth soccer and softball. Emily is a member of the Eau Claire County Bar Association and the Wisconsin Bar Association. Emily earned her bachelor of art degree in sociology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. She received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, Wisconsin.
